Winter folk week: seasonal dancealongSession type: DANCING
How energetic? 4Thursday 10 Dec 2009 Hands up who knows what morris dancers do in the winter? Come along to find out some great ways to keep warm on a winter’s night and celebrate the gritty, energetic side of our winter festivities.
Disguise, noise and vigour and are all part of the winter dance traditions of England and are a certain way to keep spirits high in any weather! This will be a laughter filled session where you can get stuck into learning some steps and figures from this unique custom. Ringing with the clashing of sticks and delicious, heart-warming music, come dance away the long winter night to find out what really makes a morris dancer tick!
No experience necessary. Come on your own - come with friends.
Optional extra - join us for food afterwards in a local (reasonably priced) restaurant!
